Frequently asked questions

01

What is Person-Centred Therapy?

Person-centred psychotherapy is a collaborative process between a therapist and client that aims to improve mental health and well-being. It involves exploring thoughts, feelings, behaviours, and experiences in a safe and supportive environment. Psychotherapy can help you gain insight into your problems, develop coping strategies, improve communication skills, and make positive changes in your life.

02

How do I know if therapy if right for me?

Therapy can be beneficial for anyone facing challenges or seeking personal growth. If you're experiencing distress, struggling with relationships, feeling overwhelmed, or simply want to explore aspects of yourself, therapy may be helpful. It's normal to have questions or reservations about therapy, and discussing them with a therapist can clarify whether it's the right fit for you.

03

What can I expect in a therapy session?

Therapy sessions last 60 minutes and occur on a regular basis, usually once a week. During sessions, you'll have the opportunity to talk openly while your therapist listens attentively and provides support, guidance, and feedback.

The pace and focus of therapy will be tailored to your specific needs and goals.

04

Is therapy confidential?

Yes, therapy is confidential, and your privacy is highly respected. As a registered member of the BACP I adhere strictly to their ethical guidelines on confidentiality.

However, there are some exceptions to confidentiality, such as if there is an immediate risk of harm to yourself or others, or if there is suspected child or elder abuse. We will discuss confidentiality and its limits during your first session.

05

How long will therapy take?

The duration of therapy varies depending on individual factors such as the nature of your concerns, your goals, and your level of commitment to the therapeutic process. Some people may achieve their desired outcomes in a few sessions, while others may benefit from longer-term therapy. We will review our work together regularly and work collaboratively to establish the best way forward for you.

06

How much does therapy cost, and do you accept insurance?

The cost is £60 per 60-minute session.

I do not currently accept insurance; however, this is something I hope to offer soon.

To get the most out of therapy, it's important to approach it with openness, honesty, and commitment. Be willing to explore your thoughts and feelings, actively participate in the therapeutic process, and communicate openly with your therapist.

Additionally, practicing self-care, implementing strategies learned in therapy, and being patient with yourself are all valuable ways to enhance the therapeutic experience and promote personal growth.
